This Saturday, 7 December 2024, the European Film Academy will be welcoming around 1.000 international guests at the festive gala to celebrate the 37th European Film Awards honouring the greatest achievements in European cinema. The ceremony takes place at KKL Luzern, Jean Nouvel’s architectural masterpiece, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. Out of 79 nominees the awards honour winners in 22 categories with the renowned European film prize. The award show will be streamed and broadcast live by 23 partners in 18 countries across Europe. The gala is starting at 20.00h (CET) and will also be streamed live at europeanfilmawards.eu.
Presenting the different categories will be among others: Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova, French actress and president of the European Film Academy Juliette Binoche, British actor Tom Blyth, German composer Dascha Dauenhauer, British producer and chair of the European Film Academy Mike Downey, German actor Lars Eidinger, British actor Ralph Fiennes, British actress Yasmin Finney, French actress Irène Jacob, Swiss actress Sunnyi Melles, Swiss actor Kacey Mottet Klein, French film editor Laurent Sénéchal, French-Iranian filmmaker and actress Zar Amir, as well as Annie from Bulgaria, Celine from Luxembourg and Corey from Ireland who will present the winner of the Young Audience Award.
Fernando Tiberini will be the host of the 37th European Film Awards. The Swiss born and internationally acclaimed host and voiceover actor is fluent in English, German, Swiss German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. Opening act of the European Film Awards 2024 will be the 21st Century Orchestra, conducted by Ludwig Wicki, featuring Swiss singer Nubya on vocals together with the 21st Century Chorus. The In Memoriam segment of the show features Nubya’s song ”Wounded Heart”, featuring the 21st Century Orchestra String Quartet and Mya Audrey on piano. The show band accompanying the ceremony consists of Swiss vocalist and pianist Mya Audrey who has worked with Rea Garvey, Marianne Rosenberg, Kool Savas, Mia and many more – and Vallekrawalle aka Valéry Heer, a renowned and versatile German drummer that has worked with artists such as Carl Carlton, Jazzanova, Misty Boyce and Max Buskohl.

The winners of selected categories have already been announced and will be present: Italian actress Isabella Rossellini (EUROPEAN ACHIEVEMENT IN WORLD CINEMA), German filmmaker Wim Wenders (EUROPEAN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD), Macedonian producer Labina Mitovska (EURIMAGES INTERNATIONAL CO-PRODUCTION AWARD) and also the winners of the EXCELLENCE AWARDS honouring the arts and crafts of filmmaking.
