The EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS, presented jointly by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions, honour the greatest achievements in European cinema.

LUX EUROPEAN AUDIENCE FILM AWARD
The Academy

Founded in 1988, the European Film Academy seeks to support and connect its 4,600 members and celebrates and promotes their work.
Its aims are to share knowledge and to educate audiences of all ages about European cinema. Positioning itself as a leading organization and facilitating crucial debates within the industry, the Academy strives to unite everyone who loves European cinema, culminating annually in the Month of European Film and the European Film Awards, by including European film heritage in its portfolio and by expanding its focus on young audiences through the European Film Club.
As a European Film Award Nominee, you will receive an invitation to join the European Film Academy – membership includes access to the Academy´s VOD Platform, full voting rights and an invitation to the annual European Film Awards.
Who decides on the nominations
The European Film Academy members have voted for the nominations in the following
categories:

EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY
EUROPEAN DIRECTOR
EUROPEAN ACTRESS
EUROPEAN ACTOR
EUROPEAN SCREENWRITER
In addition to the above, there are nominations for
EUROPEAN DISCOVERY – Prix FIPRESCI
EUROPEAN ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
which are decided by individual nomination committees.
EUROPEAN SHORT FILM
The short film nominations are established in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a candidacy in the short film category of the European Film Awards. Once the list of candidates is complete, the participating festivals nominate five short films from this list.

A vote from both the members of the European Parliament and the public will decide on the winner of the
LUX EUROPEAN AUDIENCE FILM AWARD
Where & When
The European Film Awards 2023 will be celebrated in Berlin.
The Awards ceremony will take place in the Arena Berlin.
The weekend programme traditionally includes film screenings with Q&As for the public and a
reception on Friday night, as well as the awards ceremony and an after-show party for guests.
The Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, 9 December 2023.
The show will be streamed live at www.europeanfilmawards.eu and through an international network of streaming and broadcasting partners.
