    Congratulations on your nomination for the 36th European Film Awards!

    Founded in 1988, the European Film Academy seeks to support and connect its 4,600 members and celebrates and promotes their work.

    Its aims are to share knowledge and to educate audiences of all ages about European cinema. Positioning itself as a leading organization and facilitating crucial debates within the industry, the Academy strives to unite everyone who loves European cinema, culminating annually in the Month of European Film and the European Film Awards, by including European film heritage in its portfolio and by expanding its focus on young audiences through the European Film Club.

    As a European Film Award Nominee, you will receive an invitation to join the European Film Academy – membership includes access to the Academy´s VOD Platform, full voting rights and an invitation to the annual European Film Awards.

    The EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS, presented jointly by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions, honour the greatest achievements in European cinema.

    The European Film Academy members have voted for the nominations in the following categories:

    In addition to the above, there are nominations for

    EUROPEAN DISCOVERY – Prix FIPRESCI
    EUROPEAN ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
    Both categories are decided by individual nomination committees.

    EUROPEAN SHORT FILM
    The nominations for EUROPEAN SHORT FILM are established in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a candidacy in the short film category of the European Film Awards. Once the list of candidates is complete, the participating festivals nominate five short films from this list.

    LUX EUROPEAN AUDIENCE FILM AWARD
    The LUX Selection Panel draws from European film professionals, who select the five nominated films from an extensive pool of films submitted for the European Film Awards.

    Based on the nominations, the members of the European Film Academy vote for the winners in the following categories:

    A vote from both the members of the European Parliament and the public will decide on the winner of the LUX EUROPEAN AUDIENCE FILM AWARD

    The European Film Awards 2023 will be celebrated on Saturday, 9 December, in Berlin.
    The Awards ceremony will take place in the Arena Berlin.

    The weekend programme traditionally includes film screenings with Q&As for the public and a reception by the Mayor of the hosting city on Friday night, as well as the awards ceremony and an after-show party for guests on Saturday.

    The show will be streamed live at www.europeanfilmawards.eu and through an international network of streaming and broadcasting partners.
