Cinemazero is an arthouse multiplex with 4 screens where directors, actors and experts regularly take part in screenings and events. It is a non-profit cultural organization founded in 1978 by a group of people eager to share and spread their passion for movies. Over 45 years on, and with a renewed staff of professionals, it continues to be the main point of reference for film and audiovisual media in Pordenone and in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
It promotes initiatives at a national and international level. The most important is the documentary film festival Pordenone Docs Fest (pordenonedocsfest.it).
Cinemazero is a founding member, together with the Cineteca del Friuli, of the Pordenone Silent Film Festival (Le Giornate del Cinema Muto) and of the literary festival Pordenonelegge.
It organises or co-organises photographic exhibitions about the most important film protagonists of all times, such as Pier Paolo Pasolini or Tina Modotti, in co-operation with Italian and international institutions. The audiovisual patrimony kept in the Mediateca is freely available for students and everyone who desires to consult it. Many initiatives are addressed to the youth and educational labs are proposed to schools, aiming to foster a film culture in the city. Cinemazero publishes books on film-related topics. With the CEC (based in Udine), it runs the film production and distribution company Tucker Film.
